Review of Farmasi BB cream (medium to light shade)

Farmasi BB cream

Hi J
Today, I will be doing a review of the Farmasi BB cream (medium to dark shade). As the name suggests, it is a light (can be termed as light to medium coverage depending on the amount one is using) foundation with moisturizing properties.

Description of product:

The BB cream is available in 50 ml. It has a light and smooth texture. It also glides over the skin easily and does not dry off swiftly thus one may blend the cream properly at an appropriate pace. The BB cream has a mild scent which easily fades with time. It is SPF 15 thus one does not require the usage of a sun-screen. If you need higher SPF, you can opt for the BB+ or CC Farmasi cream. It is approximately 600 Mauritian rupees ($18) which is reasonable as cost.
The shade of the BB cream

Personal experience:

I have a dark (caramel skin) oily skin with warm tone. Thus, I usually make use of my toner and moisturizer before apply the BB cream. Since the product is liquid in nature beware of squeezing too much of product at one go.

Initially, I used to apply generous amount of cream which tends to make my face over-packed with foundation due to my dark skin tone. Though it is said to be for medium to dark skin, I personally find it way too light in shade to be termed as a medium to dark skin cream. This is the only yet major drawback of this product.

The BB cream looks whitish and in some case greyish on dark skin specially in pictures (flash effect due to mineral based cream and SPF)

Then I started using it in fairly smaller quantity over my face, this brought a nice light yet not-greyish finish on my face. I make use of a damped beauty blender to blend the product over my face. Still I struggle to get an even colour for both my face and neck hence I end up applying several “coats” of BB cream over my neck so as it can match my face colour. Even this, I really like this beauty gem J as it stays for more than 6 hours. I had even used it for warm summer nights party (outdoor). Even after being exposed to rain, my make-up did not end up being messy. I really love this BB cream and wished they (Farmasi) supplied it in dark shade to pamper us (women with dark skin tones).

So, as an end note, I would surely commend this product to all of you but the only drawback is the available shade of the product. I hope this review help you all.

Review of Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-free moisturiser

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-free moisturiser

Hi J
Today, I will be doing the product review of Neutrogena pink grapefruit oil-free  moisturiser. First, let me describe my skin type and environment I live in. My face skin is combination - oily one depending on the season and hormonal balance. The skin is also prone to acne (mild acne/pimple) and I have some enlarged pores near the nose-cheek area. Given that I live in a tropical island, I am exposed to hot and high humidity climate which is quite challenging to have a clean and oil-free face throughout the entire day.

Description of moisturiser:
I had been using Neutrogena oil-free grape-fruit moisturiser for approximately 2 years. It is of very light and thin consistency. It is not oil based as its name suggests and non-greasy thus does not clog the pores. It is approximately 600 Mauritian rupees ($18) which is quite pricey.

Personal experience:
At first, I felt that the scent is way too strong and I felt a ticklish sensation over my upper lip area for few minutes after application of the face moisturiser. It was due to my sensible skin type and after 10-15 days of usage, my skin got accustomed to the moisturiser. The moisturiser penetrates the face adequately and the skin feels refreshed upon application. It does not had a greasy effect after application and my pimples diminished after about 1 to 1.5 month of usage of Neutrogena pink grapefruit moisturiser. My face was no more shiny.
However after one year of usage, my skin felt no more pampered by this cream as it only controlled my pimples to a specific extent during the initial phase. It was not diminishing my pimples any-more and during summer peaks, my face tends to get greasy. Nevertheless, I continued using  the moisturiser for another one year until I found another face cream.
Recently, I got back to this Neutrogena moisturiser but it did not had the wanted effect and had to discontinue using it. However, my mother uses it and she has absolutely no issue with it (above 50 years and normal and smooth skin type).
Hope this review helps oily acne prone skin peeps ;)

NOTE: This is my personal opinion about Neutrogena Pink –Grapefruit oil free moisturiser.

Curly Dry hair tips ;)

Hi girls :)

Having curly hair is a blessing but possessing dry curly hair is not an easy task. This hair type requires meticulous care and nutrition intakes. So, today I will be talking about the products and DIY techniques that I use to clean and pamper my curly dry hair.

My hair type (not clearly visible but it can give you an idea)

To begin with, let me describe my hair type and environment I live. My hair is fine in texture therefore it is frail and vulnerable. It is also dry and coloured hence requiring intensive moisturising. I live in a tropical island which is prone to frequent hot and damp climate which is not very favourable my hair type ( :'( ).

Thus, before having my hair washed, I usually opt for a home-made treatment; application of virgin olive oil to my hair and scalp for 30-60 mins (I sometimes do an overnight oil bath which is not trouble free since oil stick on my pillow-case and face skin). Then I apply natural aloe-vera gel (from the leaves) to my oiled hair 10-15 mins which I subsequently wash with Franck Provost extreme nutrition shampoo. After that, I restore moisture and make my hair smooth and silky with Timotei avocado or precious oils. After that I make use of a baby Johnson oil to give definition to my curls. And ta da! curly dry hair is no more dry :p

Occasionally, I use my sofri free hair serum or coconut hair cream which gives more shine and humidity resistance to my hair. I hope these tips help out for the curly babes!!!
